Five ways to…have an amazing 2015! (PS – Thank you!)

happy_new_yearcThe official holiday hustle is behind us and it’s time to look ahead to the new year.  Whether 2014 crawled by or disappeared in an instant, its days are numbered now.

Are you ready to make 2015 your best year so far? Here are five things you can do right now to set yourself up to succeed!

  1. Take stock of 2014. (FREE TOOL right here …or check out the whole planner here!)
The navel-gazing doesn’t have to take weeks or throw you into an existential crisis – the tool linked above is a preview of something special that’s coming to you in 2015, and it will take you less than 15 minutes to ponder the three key questions it contains.
  2. Let it go.
You don’t have to sing, but let go of the following to make room for new experiences:
    – old goals that don’t mean anything to you anymore
    – activities and ideas that no longer serve you
    – 5 minutes’ worth of clutter.  (Use a timer.  Go ahead and do it now, we’ll wait.)
  3. Consider your priorities.
Before we start talking about goals (or…shudder…resolutions), let’s take a second to consider what your top five priorities are in your life right now. There’s no point in resolving to climb Mount Everest in 2015 if you know that your priorities are getting out of debt, and healing your broken leg!  The better you know your starting point, the more likely it is that you will set goals you can achieve.
  4. Commit to taking care of yourself.
Like it or not, you’re a very important person in your life – in fact, some might argue that you’re the most important person in your life.  If you don’t take care of yourself, how are you going to take care of all of the other people and things that you look after? If this idea doesn’t sit well with you, I encourage you to take some time to think about why.  I’m not advocating a selifish, hedonistic spree of a life – but you have a unique contribution to make to the world, and you owe it to yourself to let your light shine!  Give yourself permission to do the things you enjoy, to improve your daily quality life, and to let your comfort and happiness be important to you.
  5. Set some goals…maybe.
If you’re in Houston, join me on January 13 for a goal setting workshop and some delicious lunch! For now, if you have goals that really speak to you, jot them down.  Don’t feel pressured by a bucket list you saw online, ideas about what you “should” do, or how far away you might feel from accomplishing your dreams.  Then, check back here soon for the rest of your 2015 goal setting tool – I think you will love it! Think of your goals as long-term commitments, not resolutions. If you want something, go after it no matter how long it takes you! And if you’re not ready to set goals for the year on January 1, don’t worry! You’ve got 364 more days to work with.

So long, 2014.  You’ve been an amazing year…

  • Tiny Fitness opened!
  • I had a blast and found a lot of supporters at the Zumba Instructors’ convention in August
  • All of my clients made amazing progress toward their goals – or even past them!

…but I’m ready for the new challenges of 2015!

PS- Thank you for making Tiny Fitness possible!  I couldn’t succeed in doing what I love without each of you, whether you train with me, party with me Zumba Fitness style, follow me on any of my social media channels, or just read my blog from afar.
