First Workout With Elizabeth

Note from Elizabeth: Brie is an amazing gal who has just started working out with me, and she has agreed to share her unfiltered journey with you here on the Tiny Fitness blog! Please join me in giving her a warm welcome to the Tiny Fitness family. We will be sharing updates from her journey about once a week, and I promise that I won’t be editing her stories – these are her real opinions, successes, and workout woes.

Brie rocked out her fitness assessment and first workout! She got acquainted with the TRX (squats and rows, anyone?), but hasn’t yet met the BOSU burpee…there’s still time 🙂

I can honestly say that I don’t like anything about health and fitness. I don’t like sweating. I don’t like eating well. I don’t like change, but for that matter, I don’t think anyone is head over heels about change.

I have lost some weight (about 60 lbs.), but I knew that I still wasn’t eating well or exercising anywhere near what I needed to be doing. I have gone from 255 lbs to approximately 195 lbs through gastric sleeve surgery. As grateful as I am for the weight I have lost, I knew that I wouldn’t be able to maintain it with out proper diet and exercise.

So enter, Tiny Fitness and Elizabeth into my life.

I am very desperate to get in shape and maintain or lose even more weight. Our first work out was difficult. I mean difficult in a way where I realized that I was really out of shape and felt really bad about it, but Elizabeth assured me that I was doing better than I thought I was. In all actuality, the exercises she asked me to do were not unreasonable and, although slow and wobbly, I completed them all.

We initially took some measurements and did an assessment, which was scary to me. I cannot remember the last time I had my body “assessed”, but she was kind and very motivating. I know that being a “cheerleader” is part of being a trainer, but Elizabeth is genuinely concerned about my progress and that makes training with her a little more pleasant, where as, with someone else I would most likely just be trying to get through the workout. Although after my first workout with her, I was sore, and was having trouble going up and down my stairs or sitting on my couch, I knew that it was all part of the process. She believes in me and I believe in her ability to help me and that makes all the difference in the world.
