Pop quiz, fitness lovers: what’s the best workout for guaranteed results?
I’m going to let you in on a fitness secret…
…
…it’s the workout that you do consistently.
Consistency is the magic pill for workout results.
Whether you love Zumba fitness, barre classes, running on a track, or doing yoga on the floor in front of the TV, doing it consistently is what will make an impact on your fitness level.
I see lots of images on social media about how it takes “21 days to form a habit” or “12 weeks for the world to see your changes”, but the fact is that there isn’t a certain number of weeks or days (sorrrryyyy) that it will take to see your results.
However, it will definitely take more than one day.
The speed at which you get your results depends on a lot of things like:
- sleep
- stress
- nutrition
- hydration
- fitness level
- goal/type of results you’re seeking
- and, of course, workout type and challenge level – relative to your current goals and level of fitness
But the most important part is that you keep showing up!
If you don’t know where to start, take a walk.
All you need to walk is a pair of feet, and maybe a pair of shoes. Just start! If you want to try something else, our Workout Wednesday posts on Facebook each week might give you a fun 15-minute strength challenge (no equipment needed).
But, whatever you do, just start. Start where you are, and keep going. You don’t have to make a commitment for a month or a whole year – just start today, and then show up again tomorrow. Take it one day at a time.
But make each day count.
Be consistent.
Consistent enough, at least. Value the investment that you’re making in yourself enough to maintain it. It only takes a couple of hours each week. You’re worth it. Consistently.
PS – this is…
…the number one thing my clients struggle with. So, if you struggle with being consistent, know that you are in good company, and know that the struggle is PART of this process. One or two or three days of struggle each week won’t kill you, and they won’t derail your results. Just keep moving forward.
