Did you finish last week’s 16.1 miler? Gorgeous scenery. Let’s hit the trail again, much much closer to home this time. (So close, you could actually go check it out!)
This week’s hike is a simple one that you can do in real life if you’re willing to travel outside 610: The Edith L Moore Nature Sanctuary, which contains a leisurely 1 mile loop that will have you feeling like you’re lost in the woods without having to hike out your gear.
My challenge to you: can you hike 1 mile every single day this week? (Remember, your mileage doesn’t have to be on the trails I highlight – I don’t expect anyone to have flown to California last week for this challenge!)
At the actual Sanctuary, which is owned by the Houston Audubon Society, you will park near the log cabin and meander along elevated wooden trails while spotting all sort of avian excitement. If you keep your hike closer to home, can you find a 1 mile loop that you enjoy?
When I lived on the west side of town, this park was a favorite stop of mine…it’s more contained and managed than the Terry Hershey trail (which I also love, just not alone), but offers the same trees-and-creek scenery in a quick and easy loop. If you go in person, leave your pupper at home…no dogs allowed.
