The February challenge is wrapping up! Everyone who has tackled the Cupid component has finished SO strong. How’s your challenge going?
Don’t forget, there are three more parts to the challenge:
- Celebrate one NSV (non-scale victory, the building blocks of fitness success) – are you stronger? Do your clothes fit differently? Is it easier to grocery shop / cook / prep? Are the stairs not leaving you winded anymore? You choose what you’re proud of!
- do 3 nice things for yourself and
- move for 10 minutes a day (not too late to start!)
This week’s reminder at the studio is to get enough rest. Or, as your body would put it, get enough rest or else. Make time for rest and recovery before you get sick, stressed, and injured!
Our full-length online Zumba and Bootcamp video classes are so fun – so get ready to sweat with us! I am so glad you’ve been enjoying them (get them right here if you haven’t yet).
Which one of our group classes will you join this week?
- Saturday 9am Bootcamp (meets in the studio parking lot – sign in online and bring your mat)
- Sunday 9am Zumba (free, meets at Levy Park – 3801 Eastside)
- Monday 6:30pm Zumba (free, meets at Levy Park – 3801 Eastside)
- Wednesday 7pm Zumba at Jerabeck Athletic Center (class meets upstairs – enter via the main door and use the first staircase on your right)
Some links for the week…
- I tried this chicken recipe and it took me less than 5 minutes of hands-on time and used only things that were already in my fridge and pantry! I skipped ingredients I didn’t have or that wouldn’t work for my household, and I served it over rice instead of as a taco. (I don’t have an Instant Pot, so I just made it on the stovetop and it was ready in about 30 minutes.) It would freeze great.
- I have this beef recipe on deck to make today – I’ll be following the same kinds of shortcuts and skipping the tortillas to make it right for my household. I also always add more vegetables than a recipe calls for (usually zucchini and greens because they disappear right into the sauce). This is another freezer recipe!
- Talking about the causes of depression – is this new info for you? I am always chipping away at everyone’s inflammation when I see you….
- And, speaking of inflammation and nutrition, a study (linked in the article) beginning to probe the link between food insecurity and cognitive decline/dementia. Remember this when I’m nagging you to eat your rainbows!
- The sun is shining but the pollen is also rising, so here is my playlist of home walking workouts if you still don’t want to get outside
Let me know if you try any of those recipes – or if you have a favorite I should try. (Just be aware I always tweak recipes to work for my macros and my household – and you should too!) xoxo
