How to stay the course – weekly studio update

Do you keep quitting on yourself? Here’s how to stop:

Focus on how you will FEEL when you reach your goal, whatever it is. Spend 2 minutes focusing on that feeling.

For super brief example, no one in my personal life really supported my Zumba instructor journey over the last 13+ years. Some thought it was a silly hobby, some might have been downright unkind about it, and many were disappointingly silent about it. However, I had (have!) a vision in my heart for what I wanted to do with the language of Zumba, and we have it: a flourishing, joy-centered community that just so happens to include some great cardio and cute dance moves. We just might happen to have the biggest classes in central Houston. And I’m far from done!

Every day, I spend at least 2 minutes thinking/daydreaming about that future chapter. That’s how I know what to do next – how I find each tiny step to move forward toward my next goals for our Zumba fam.

So, you, you who keeps quitting on yourself, spend 2 minutes today awash in the feeling you will have when you reach your goal, whatever it is. Do it again tomorrow. Take your tiny steps. You can do great things.

  • Sunday 9am Zumba (free, meets at Levy Park – 3801 Eastside)
  • Monday 6:30pm Zumba (free, meets at Levy Park – 3801 Eastside)
  • Wednesday 5/24 7pm Zumba at Jerabeck Athletic Center (free / $5 suggested donation)
  • Saturday 9am Bootcamp (meets in the studio parking lot – sign in online and bring your mat)
  • Saturday 5/27 9:30am Zumba at Montrose Collective (free, 888 Westheimer, street/garage parking, stay for brunch if you want!)
