No title, too hot outside – weekly studio update

Y’all it has been so hot that I think my brain has gone full Grinch and become two sizes too small due to dehydration. How are you holding up?

I’ve been kicking around how to talk about this article that touches on some very early research about what happens when you actually slow down to breathe well, eat your greens, work out, sleep, and hydrate…it’s neither a perfect study nor a perfect article, but the results are pretty astounding. (Spoiler – the tip of the iceberg is a big increase in quality of life.)

I’ve been vegging out with this quick stretch as an afternoon break.

I’ve been sticking to simple, oven-free meals and snacks like rice bowls (topped with tofu, soft boiled eggs, sauteed spinach and mushrooms, broccoli, chopped peanuts, scallions, and peanut sauce) and lots of berries and cucumber slices.

I’ve been watching to see if anything helpful comes up for Prime Day.

It’s ok if you’ve felt a bit of a summer slump – it’s hot out there, and everyone needs a step back sometimes. Just keep your basics covered (strength workouts, sleep, hydration) and find a warm weather cardio strategy that will work for you…we have at least 60 more days of heat and you don’t want to spend the fall rebuilding your base (again). Let me know how I can help!

Some free and fun cardio for you…

  • Sunday 9am Zumba (free, meets at Levy Park – 3801 Eastside)
  • Monday 6:30pm Zumba (free, meets at Levy Park – 3801 Eastside)
  • Wednesday 7pm Zumba at Jerabeck Athletic Center (free / $5 suggested donation)
  • Saturday 9:30am Zumba at Montrose Collective  – it’s time again! (free, 888 Westheimer, street/garage parking, stay for brunch if you want!) – we have moved upstairs to where it is covered!
