An inside look at fat – weekly studio update

I am usually pretty lighthearted, but this week’s post about visceral fat is a little more serious – it starts with a short video, though, so come on over…

This 40-second video clip I pulled for you is pretty graphic – like, poking around in a cadaver-level graphic. But I encourage you to click through and bravely take a peek.

While you’re wrapped up thinking you’re “so bad” for eating a brownie or worrying about how that one shirt fits, what’s in that video clip is the real story.  And, honestly, if you never made any other fitness progress than keeping that visceral, organ-covering fat in check, you’d still be a champion.

I know there’s a lot of pressure to look a certain way, or even to lift something of a certain size or run a distance. Those are all good goals, but your body needs you to:

  • stay active
  • keep your stress feeling like it’s below a 6/10
  • sleep
  • stay hydrated (they talk about that in the video too!)
  • and eat reasonably (fruits and veggies, not too many processed foods

…even if you’re not seeing your goals come true just yet.

So, when you just aren’t feeling like working hard, you see no reason not to down another soda or 3, or you wake up and you feel like going for another silly little walk just isn’t worth it, please trust me that it is. Your body knows the difference. You might need a different workout or nutrition approach for your body to reach the goals you’ve set for it, but your body wants you to take the care it needs too, no matter what.
